What’s new
A running list of what we add to StratumView. Newest first.

- Tidier 12d layers. A TIN that shares its name with a string model now gets its own layer, and a model’s survey points go in their own “(points)” layer, so surfaces, linework and points can each be turned on, off and styled separately.
- Fix: draped surfaces turning black. Where a draped image doesn’t cover a surface (outside the image or in its no-data areas), the surface now keeps its own colour instead of going black.
- Resizable panels. Drag any corner of a pop-up or panel to resize it.
- Key plan you can arrange. Drag the cross-section key plan anywhere, resize it from its edges, zoom its map with the mouse wheel, and right-click it to choose which layers it shows and drag them into the drawing order you want. Right-click the chainage label to style it. Both carry into the printed PDF.
- Draw your own alignment. Click an alignment in plan and step through cross sections along it, with the ← → arrow keys or the ◀ ▶ buttons. A chainage label sits under the key plan, on screen and in the printed PDF, and can be turned off.
- Section extents. An Extents button in the cross section, or press F with the cursor over it, zooms the section to fit. Stepping along a string now keeps your zoom and position relative to the string, following its level.
- Cross sections along a string. Pick any string or 12d alignment and step through cross sections square to it at a chainage interval you choose, with the section width set left and right of the string. Each station keeps its own dimensions and leaders.
- One measuring tool for every view. Measure now works in plan, 3D and the cross section at once. Section dimensions can be dragged, edited and styled just like plan ones, and closed shapes in the section give their cross-sectional area.
- Info tool. Click anything to see what it is: layer, file, string or point name, coordinates and the surface level beneath. In the section, hover to identify lines, surfaces, pipes and points.
- Pipes in cross sections. 12d pipe strings show as proper pipes in the section: the outline where the section cuts across, top and bottom (with inside faces) where it runs along. Also in the printed PDF.
- Dimension styling. Right-click any dimension for its own label, contents, size, colour and rotation, a background mask and border, and leader style with hinge. Hovering dimension text highlights it so it’s easy to grab and move.
- String names per layer. Each layer can have its own string-name position, colour, size and weight.
- Clearer picking. Strings highlight under the cursor when you’re choosing one, and a new section line shows as you place it.

- Help. A searchable how-to guide and keyboard shortcuts, from the Help button in the app.
- Areas. Close a measurement on its first point for plan area and the true draped surface area of each surface underneath, and save it as a dimension.
- Leaders. Add text with a leader arrow in plan and in the cross section, with editable text and leader style. Exports to DXF and 12da.
- Movable panels. Drag any pop-up or panel out of the way by its title bar.
- Point styles for 12d and CAD points. Choose symbols, sizes and colours, and turn point numbers on or off per layer.
- Draping imagery. Choose which surfaces each GeoTIFF or orthophoto drapes over in 3D.
- Dimension text. Dimension text stays visible at any zoom and can be dragged clear of the line.
- Drawing. Erase tool, delete drawing layers, clear all, and close a line by finishing on its start point.
- Projects. Your open project survives a browser refresh, and saved projects remember where their files were.
- 12d files. Reads trimesh solids and survey control strings drawn as points.
